    How the Gallery came about
    content

For many years artists in Reading have felt the lack of exhibition space in the town.

In October 2017 I had a very positive meeting with Simon Smith in the Library here, with a view to relaunching this space in the Library as an Art Gallery. The funding generously offered by RG Spaces made this project possible. New lighting, a new hanging system, re-painting and signage were agreed with enthusiasm.

For the opening exhibition I naturally approached Reading Guild of Artists, since they have been an established organisation in the town for almost 90 years. Three further exhibitions, all differing from one another in style and content, will follow.

The HolyBrook Gallery is available for hire and we all hope it will be fully used.

Reading now has an Art Gallery in the centre of town where artists can exhibit their work, and so bring art to the town and to the community more generally.

I should like to thank RG Spaces for the funding which has made this all possible and Conservatree for sponsorship of the printing.
